Frequently Asked Questions

What is Gestalt Psychotherapy?

Gestalt Psychotherapy is a form of humanistic, experiential therapy that focuses on awareness, personal responsibility, and the present moment.

It’s based on the idea that we experience life as a whole — our thoughts, emotions, body sensations, and actions are all interconnected. When parts of ourselves are ignored, denied, or stuck in the past, we can feel incomplete or blocked.

In Gestalt therapy:

  • The therapist helps you notice what’s happening for you right now — in your body, feelings, and thoughts — and how it relates to your life.
  • The emphasis is on experiencing rather than just talking, which might include creative techniques like role-play, dialogue, or movement.
  • You are supported to take ownership of your choices and find new ways of responding.

Many people find Gestalt work powerful for building self-awareness, improving relationships, and creating lasting change because it doesn’t just focus on the “story” but on how you experience yourself in the here and now.

About Jean
My name is Jean Colleran, I opened my first business in 2002 called Pure Bliss which is located in Ennis, Co. Clare, Ireland.

I have been working with people in a healing capacity since 1997, beginning with deep tissue massage and facials, then expanding into Reiki, psychotherapy, and Transforming Touch. Over the years, I have come to believe that the most meaningful change happens when we meet people exactly where they are. I bring together all of my skills and experience to create a safe, supportive space where each person can explore what they most need. Whether through touch therapies, psychotherapy, or a combination of both, my aim is to help people find greater ease, balance, and well-being in body, mind, and soul.

Warmly Jean
